After malicious gangsters capture Bruce Wong's ex-girlfriend, a young martial artist attempts to rescue her along with the late master's book containing lethal techniques for killing with one's fingers.

It's Meng Yuan-wen (star of The Master Strikes) versus Kuan Feng in this wild and wacky wushu saga of a priceless pole with a spectacular secret. A master martial artist's silly disciple struggles to save it from an evil white slaver, the slaver's duplicitous wife, and even his own bone-headed, but greedy, companion. Hsu Hsia choreographs the abundant action, as he had for both Five Superfighters and Drunken Master. The result is both sublime (for its kung-fu) and engagingly ridiculous.

Petit gangster de Hong-Kong, Wah (Andy Lau) se partage entre son boulot habituel, le recouvrement de dettes, et la nécessité de protéger son acolyte, Fly (Jacky Cheung), à la conduite problématique : celui-ci ne cesse d’emprunter de l’argent qu’il ne peut jamais rembourser. Mais cette vie, déjà̀ passablement déréglée, est bouleversée quand Wah doit héberger sa jolie cousine, Ngor (Maggie Cheung), qui vit loin de la ville, sur l’île de Lantau. Wah entame alors un épuisant va-et-vient entre son amour naissant pour Ngor, mirage d’une vie paisible, et sa fidélité́ à son «frère» de gang, Fly, tabassé à répétition par les hommes de main d’un autre gangster, Tony. Wah devra choisir sa destinée.

Chow et Tang sont deux frères qui ont grandi ensemble avec leur code de l’honneur. Quand le premier tombe amoureux et décide de se marier, l’autre s’occupe des affaires de la Triade. Mais quand un gang adverse s’en mêle, les deux frères doivent à nouveau se réunir pour lutter contre l’ennemi commun et n’hésiteront pas à mener une dernière mission suicide.

Martial art film standout Liang Chia-jen brings the same animalistic intensity from his early heroic bloodshed films to his Danger Has Two Faces tough, ex-cop character now relegated to becoming a pet store owner. The stern Police Superintendent Liu played by Chu Chiang sets the stage for his later role in John Woo's The Killer while new comer Fei Hsiang must do Serpico-like things to find out which cop is paid for by the mob.
