Apr 10, 1986En décembre 1917, à la prison de Wronke, Rosa Luxembourg se souvient : 1906, déjà en prison, à Varsovie, l'exécution d'hommes dans la cour, son propre interrogatoire. 1899, Berlin : ses retrouvailles avec Léo Jogiches, son camarade de combat, son compagnon dans la vie. Lors de la soirée du jour de l'an, elle le présente aux dirigeants de la social-démocratie August Bebel, Karl Kautsky, mais évite le révisionniste Bernstein. 1910, Berlin : après une longue période d'activité révolutionnaire coupée d'emprisonnements en Pologne et en Allemagne, elle retrouve son amie Luise Kautsky. Puis, Léo arrive de Varsovie. Meetings et discussions théoriques de plus en plus vives s'enchaînent. L'amour et la politique s'emmêlent...

Oct 15, 1976Hlavními postavami je mladá psycholožka Doubravka a vesnický mladík Honza Macháček. On je traktorista, který při ztřeštěné sázce dočasně přišel o řidičský průkaz, takže teď pase družstevní stádo krav, ona je na chatě se svým chlapcem Bobou, který nepříliš úspěšně studuje medicínu a právě se připravuje na opravné zkoušky. Honzova bezprostřednost, optimismus a přístup k životu i práci ostře kontrastuje se sobeckým, slabošským a nevyrovnaným Bobou a Doubravka si stále víc uvědomuje, že její cit k Bobovi zmizel a doopravdy má vlastně ráda Honzu. Otázkou je, jak se na takovou partii bude dívat její poněkud konzervativní rodina.

Feb 01, 1980Vera, wife of the plumber Simandl (Josef Somr), is found murdered in the cinema next to the IDOC (Information and Documentation) agency where she worked. Police captain Marha (Frantisek Nemec), who is leading the investigation, is informed by Simandl that on the day of the murder Vera promised to bring home fifty thousand crowns to buy a car. Marha's primary suspects are the three men working at the agency: deputy editor-in-chief Brandl (Jirí Pleskot) and editors Pernata (Eduard Cupák) and Remes (Ludek Munzar, and of course also Simandl.

Dec 31, 1968It is 5 May 1945 and the uprising against the hated German occupiers has broken out in Prague. The Czech guards open the gate of the Pankrác prison to allow the prisoners to escape en masse. Many of them are shot dead by the German guards but young Ruda (Jaromír Hanzlík) manages to run away. He is taken care of by one of the Prague fighters, concierge Kytka. Kytka hides him in the flat of the house's owner where only the young maid Karla (Jana Brejchová) is left, ordering her to take care of Ruda.
