To inform each personally about her impending death, Mies summons her three daughters home. The three half-sisters April, May and June, each of whom has a different father, start to question their lives: "Where are we at in life? What do we still have in common? Laura and Marsha are best friends since high school. Although their characteristics are way too different: Laura is a single mother, living with her mother since her husband left her without explanation, while Marsha, is a free-spirited girl who never worries about anything. One day, Marsha plans a trip to Europe, Laura refuses at first, but finally agrees to join on one condition: that Marsha follows her set of rules. Their friendship is tested when they argue and realize they lived with a truth left behind.

Moos is a young woman who helps her father Maup in his shop. Then she is reunited with her old friend Sam, who encourages her to make her dreams come true.

Former Amsterdam police detective Floris Wolfs has been transferred to the police department of the south-Dutch country town Maastricht. His metropolitan experience nicely complements the local expertise of his new country colleagues, who know the folks. Slowly he fits in, while solving countless crimes together with his female partner Eva van Dongen.
