Takenori Kaneko

"Meebo" est un élève du primaire et adore le poisson. Sa vie est en effet "fish-a-holic". Meebo regarde le poisson, dessine le poisson et mange le poisson tous les jours. Son père s'inquiète qu'il soit un peu différent des autres enfants mais sa mère l'encourage et le soutient toujours chaleureusement plutôt que de s'inquiéter. Après être entré dans un lycée, Meebo est toujours obsédé par le poisson, comme d'habitude. Pour une raison quelconque, Meebo s'entend avec des voleurs comme un protagoniste d'un conte. Finalement, Meebo commence à vivre seul. Au fil des rencontres et des retrouvailles, il est toujours aimé de son entourage et avance droit vers son unique voie.

One day, Haru (25), who works as a bookstore clerk, reunites with Takeshi (45), whom she first met a few years prior, when she stopped him from jumping in front of a train. Takeshi offers Haru a job. Another day, Haru is worried about Yukiko (40) who is sitting on a bench in front of the station, and talks to her. This leads them on a small journey together. Haru takes along a cassette tape and recorder left behind by her mother Taeko, who died of illness when Haru was in primary school. Haru again faces regrets of not being able to help Taeko, which she had held for a long time.

Suzuki Koichi, a 30-something hikikomori shut-in, allows his mother to dotingly tend to his needs. When she discovers that Koichi has killed himself, the shock is so great she loses consciousness and her memory of that day.

Taeko’s friend Maya confesses that she has a crush on Taeko's father. Taeko tells her father and mother. Taeko's mother laughs and Taeko's father acts like its not a big deal. Since then, Maya rushes to Taeko's father.

Shiori, Yukiko, Kyoko and Sachiko continue to live each day with untold feelings inside. Unable to forget a colleague on a trip, a father who is ill, a friend who works at a store that is about to close, and a long-lost husband, each woman takes a step forward. There is a light that sometimes embraces them, calmly and gently.

At a train station in the suburbs of Tokyo, an accident takes place causing death and injury. Tsuyoshi is at the scene and witnesses the death of a woman. Right before the accident occurred, Tsuyoshi took a photograph of the woman, who carried a gentle look. Later, Tsuyoshi learns the woman has a daughter named Kiriko. Tsuyoshi meets Kiriko.

A 40 year old shut-in who lives with his mom runs away from home and meets interesting people.

Sachi quits her job at a museum, starts working part-time at a café, and moves into an apartment recommended by a regular customer. Although she has started a new life, Sachi is still haunted by the memory of her partner whom she will never see again.
