Chacun d'entre eux relate l'histoire d'une des figures principales de l'histoire chilienne au 19ème siècle : Bernardo O'Higgins, José Miguel Carrera, Manuel Rodriguez, Diego Portales, José Manuel Balmaceda et Arturo Prat. La minisérie est un du projet le plus ambitieux de Canal 13 pour la commémoration du bicentenaire de l'indépendance du Chili, en 2010. La minisérie a le support du Ministère de l'Éducation nationale et l'Armée chilienne.
