The main character of the film is a young playboy Pavel Makarov. Waking up after another party, he finds a strange girl next to him, who seriously offers to marry her, but is refused. The daughter of a local authority, she is not used to hearing the word "no". And now Makarov is in serious trouble: he has to leave his hometown urgently.

The film follows two student cinematographers who, as the war approaches Moscow, refuse to be evacuated and instead volunteer to be front-line cameramen capturing the horrors of war and heroism of the soviet soldiers. At the same time, we witness another storyline taking place in the US. After the premiere screening of the already completed documentary “Moscow Strikes Back”, one of the members of the Academy Awards selection committee is trying to persuade his fellow colleagues to establish a new category of Best Documentary in the upcoming Oscars event.

Belorussia, summer 1942. The war has moved on, far off to the east. The life of a small town where the German authorities of the region have set themselves up is getting back to "normal". The Germans study Russian, flirt with the local girls, the women wash their clothes and feed them. They have to carry on somehow... But suddenly the teenage son of the film's heroine decides to run away to the partisans and blows up a German train so that they could accept him. He gets caught and the Germans have to execute him in order "to teach others a lesson". That's the order and it can't be disobeyed. The Germans know that this execution will bring an end to their peaceful lives. The local commandant understands this better than anyone as he is already involved in a close relationship with the boy's mother. But he can't ignore an order from his commanders...

May, 1945... A young pilot Aleksey Kaverin stationed in Germany is going home to Russia for vacation. The problem is he needs to bring a bride. And not only to himself but to four his friends as well.

Mysterious and terrible events take place at the Russian Pearl beauty contest from year to year. The first winner of the contest tragically died, the second was splashed with boiling resin in her eyes. And now the participant who reached the semifinals, Natasha Titrova, who came from Tomsk, has disappeared without a trace and mysteriously.

May 1945. The war has just ended, but the liberating soldiers, who reached Berlin with victory, are in no hurry to let them go home: the service continues for them. The brave fighter pilots are very upset by this circumstance, and most of all, the handsome Vadik Dobromyslov, who can't wait to marry his pen pal, Nastya. When his friend Lesha Kaverin is sent on a business trip to his homeland, Vadik asks him for a favor: to sign with Nastya under the name of Vadik, according to his documents, and bring her to Berlin legally as his wife. Lyosha agrees to the adventure, but it is not possible to keep the plan a secret. Everyone wants to get married, and Lyosha flies out of Berlin with documents for 4 of his comrades. On behalf of each of them, he must marry in Nastya's village. He has a day for everything about everything.

1944. German Colonel Neuber is taken prisoner trying to cross the front-line but not before he hides stolen Soviet documents. The Germans send a team to recover the Colonel and the documents but Soviet intelligence are waiting for them.

A small mining village of Kamenny, the 90s. Everyone here knows the legend about the Mistress of the mountain — the green-eyed Princess Maria Tumanova, the former owner of the emerald mines, who received the nickname Basilisk. Tumanova hid her treasures in the village, and before her death cursed everyone who dared to take possession of them... For many years, the locals even pronounce the name of the princess with caution. And only 17-year-old beauty Alyonka Koshkina defiantly defies the witchcraft of the Basilisk. On the same day, the girl's father finds a jewelry box in the mine. This discovery brings nothing but misfortune to the inhabitants. Who can resist witchcraft and bring back happiness and love?
