Sofiane est un immigré arabe vivant aux Etats-Unis, loin de la religion, des coutumes et des traditions de son pays natal. Sa vie est bouleversée en tant qu’épouse américaine ; Heather commence à apporter des changements radicaux à ses croyances spirituelles et à son style de vie. Même s'il n'est pas vraiment enthousiasmé par la décision d'Heather, Sofiane fait semblant de montrer son soutien. Mais au fil du temps, les pratiques religieuses de Heather commencent à raviver de vieux souvenirs d'expériences douloureuses et menacent de révéler un passé que Sofiane pensait enterré à jamais.
