Diana Moreland, suspecting that her husband is cheating on her with Marilyn Foster, catches the two of them having a rendezvous at a roadhouse. Instead of screaming at them, she invites Marilyn back to her home. However, Diana has prepared a test to see just who it is that her husband really loves.

Arizona cowboy Coot Cadigan travels to San Francisco and runs into Stuffy McGee, a small-time crook who stages phony "fights" to amuse the tourists. During one of those frights a man is killed and Coot gets blamed for it. Stuffy hides him out, but when he gets arrested Coot hightails it back to Arizona. with Stuffy's three children. To earn some money, he enters the Arizona Sweepstakes, a horse race with a large purse and one on which Col. Savery--the father of the girl Coot loves--depends on to save his ranch.

Tim Goodwin and his wife Corrie are living in poverty when Tim's oil well strikes it rich. Poor Henry Baxter, a lowly clerk in a newspaper office, is in love with Beulah, the beautiful office stenographer, but Beulah barely knows he exists. As if Henry's unrequited love isn't bad enough, he has to put up with office manager Higgins, a devious bully who is Henry's constant nemesis. Unable to win the lovely Beulah on his own, Henry resorts to flights of fantasy where he gets to play the hero, win Beulah and vanquish the evil Higgins.

A husband goes through a trunk in an attic and finds a memento that reminds him of childhood sweetheart. The pair grow up and marry, facing tribulations. At the end, back in the present, she comes to the attic with their kids.
