After an unknown event, the world has changed forcing people to return to a simpler way of life. We follow the leadership trials of the Varosha Tribe with Eiren, Ares and Thade all in line to lead the next generation of their colony. The three embark on a journey away from the safety of their home towards a remote forest and current leader Nus - who will choose his successor by trial. But when their trial is interrupted by the arrival of another tribe, their courage, friendship and loyalty will be tested in conditions far more dangerous than they expected.

Un petit groupe d’enfants, immunisés contre un terrible virus qui risque de décimer l’humanité, est détenu dans un camp militaire. Bien qu’ils se nourrissent eux aussi de viande humaine, les enfants sont encore capables d’éprouver des sentiments. Ils sont donc essentiels à la recherche menée par le docteur Caldwell, biologiste, pour trouver un vaccin capable de sauver l’espèce humaine. Parmi les enfants, une petite fille, Melanie, sort du lot : dotée d’un esprit brillant, elle est très liée à la maîtresse, Miss Justiniau. Quand le camp est attaqué par les zombies, le petit groupe entame une terrible odyssée dans une Grande-Bretagne en ruine. Melanie, l’ancienne prisonnière, devient un précieux guide…
