C’est l’histoire de Mr Six, un homme de 50 ans qui règne sur les rues de Beijing depuis plusieurs années. Un jour, il apprend que son fils, Xiaobo, rencontre des problèmes avec le leader d’un gang, Xiaofei. Il aide son fils à rembourser ses dettes grâce à l’aide de ses amis, mais rien ne se passe comme prévu. Malgré le diagnostique médicale de Mr Six, il fait appel à ses anciens membres pour un combat avec le gang adverse.

L’intrigue se situe aux alentours des dynasties Qin et Han, et commence avec l’attaque d’un camp de banditsdans le desert par le Général Wang Sheng et ses hommes. Pendant l’opération, le militaire porte secours à Xiao Wei, une jeune femme faite prisonnière. Celle-ci tombe immédiatement amoureuse. Wang décide de l’emmener avec lui et de la traiter comme sa propre soeur. Mais Xiao Wei semble espérer bien plus, même si l’élu de son cœur est déjà marié à l’humble et pieuse Pei Rong. Des évènements étranges se produisent peu à peu dans la ville, notamment des décès à répétitions d’hommes dont on a subtilisé le coeur. Pei Rong suspecte rapidement Xiao Wei d’aimer son mari, mais également de ne pas être celle qu’elle prétend. C’est alors qu’elle décide d’avertir Pang Yong, un ami proche et guerrier redoutable.
