En 208 après J.-C., l'empereur Han Xiandi règne sur la Chine pourtant divisée en trois royaumes rivaux. L'ambitieux Premier ministre Cao Cao rêve de s'installer sur le trône d'un empire unifié, et se sert de Han Xiandi pour mener une guerre sans merci contre Shu, le royaume du Sud-Ouest dirigé par l'oncle de l'Empereur, Liu Bei. Liu Bei dépêche Zhuge Liang, son conseiller militaire, comme émissaire au royaume de Wu pour tenter de convaincre le Roi Sun Quan d'unir ses forces aux siennes. A Wu, Zhuge Liang rencontre le Vice-Roi Zhou Yu. Très vite, les deux hommes deviennent amis et concluent un pacte d'alliance.

An ordinary village in Northern China, the last day of the winter vacation. Four idle, aimless adolescents gather at Zhou Zhixin's home, a friend who lives with his father, brother and nephew. Like most contemporary teenagers, these youths want to enjoy their last day of holiday and simply hang out in this place where nothing ever seems likely to happen. Their conversations are desultory and they sometimes seem to argue for argument's sake. One of them, Laowu, talks frankly with his girlfriend about how teenage love might affect their studies, while Laobao questions school's value and relevance to real life.

It was first broadcast on CCTV-8 in China on 17 December 2011.

Qiao's Grand Courtyard is a 2006 Chinese historical television series. The series is set during the late Qing Dynasty and chronicles the life of Shanxi financier, businessman and philanthropist Qiao Zhiyong, with artistic license applied. Part of the series was shot at Qiao's Compound, which was Qiao Zhiyong's ancestral home at Qi County, Shanxi. The series debuted on CCTV-1 on February 13, 2006 and comprises 45 episodes. It was directed by Hu Mei, known for her historical dramas Yongzheng Dynasty and The Emperor Han Wu. Lead actor and actress Chen Jianbin and Jiang Qinqin won the Audience's Favorite Actor/Actress Awards at the 2006 Golden Eagle TV Art Festival for their roles in this series. The pair was married in 2006. Qiao's Grand Courtyard clinched Best Drama Series at the 1st Seoul Drama Awards.
