Ivy St. Helier

Classique drame britannique sur les résidents d'une grande maison terrasse à Londres entre Noël 1938 et Septembre 1939. Parmi eux sont jeunes motoriste Boon Percy (Richard Attenborough) et sa mère (Gladys Henson); la maîtresse de maison, Mme Vizzard (Joyce Carey), qui est veuve et un croyant dans spiritisme; Mme Josser (Fay Compton), M. The first film adaptation, and most faithful, of Noel Coward's 1929 operetta Bitter Sweet. This tells the story of Sarah Linden's romance, the tale begins with Sarah, now older, reminiscing about her first love. As a young girl Sarah falls in love with Carl, a musician, and runs off with him to Vienna. They are happily wed and Carl earns a living conducting a small orchestra. Enter a certain Captain who sets his eye on Sarah and proceeds to shower her with his attentions, much to her dismay.

Claustrophobic train-set comedy-thriller (produced by H.G. Wells son) with an ace reporter coming up against crooks intent on stealing a gold shipment on the Scotland to London express. A scatterbrained scientist, a gun-toting dame with revenge on her mind and a pair of eccentric spinster crime novelists – who steal the film – round out the motley band of passengers who cross the path of our intrepid hero as he tries to get his big scoop.
