En Mars 2005, Neil Young a été diagnostiqué avec un anévrisme au cerveau. Quatre jours avant la date prévue pour une opération de sauvetage, il se rend à Nashville, où il a écrit et enregistré l'album country folk PRAIRIE WIND avec de vieux amis et membres de la famille. Après la réussite de l'opération et la période de récupération, il est retourné à Nashville que Août à jouer au célèbre Ryman Auditorium, encore une fois rassembler famille et amis pour cette représentation spéciale.

L'émission Unplugged de la chaîne MTV semble avoir été inventée pour Neil Young, véritable maître de la guitare folk et de l'arrangement dépouillé. Non seulement on retrouve ici quelques-unes de ses plus belles ballades acoustiques comme "Pocahontas" ou "The Needle And The Damage Done", mais on peut aussi découvrir de nouvelles lectures de ses morceaux les plus électriques.

"Freedom" is an acoustic live performance by singer-songwriter Neil Young that was released on video in 1990 in conjunction with his 1989 studio album of the same name. The video includes performances of seven songs that were filmed in Jones Beach, NY on September 5, 1989, and at the Palladium in New York City on September 6, 1989. Six of the songs are performed solo by Young on vocals, guitar, harmonica, and piano. One song, "Too Far Gone," features long-time Young collaborators Ben Keith and Frank "Poncho" Sampedro on Dobro and Mandolin, respectively. Set List: 1. Crime in the City (6:15), 2.
