But the insidious sister of Khan Karashash, who has long dreamed of power, took advantage of her brother's forced departure and slandered the shepherd's daughter, spreading a rumor that she had given birth to two puppies.

The traditional conflict between the daughter-in-law and the daughter-in-law is resolved in the expressive manner of a poetics-symbolic cinema and a philosophical parable.

Kyz-Zhibek - Kazakh poetic folk legend of the 16th century, tells about the period in the Kazakh nation when the people suffered from bloody feuds. In those times each province of the Kazakh nation had its own Khan and each tried to supersede the other. The love story of Tolegen, the brave warrior, and the beauty Zhibek ends tragically because of inter-family strife. Tolegen is foully murdered by Bekejan (the batyr, or nobleman, of the rival family), who earlier strived for the hand of Zhibek. Zhibek commits suicide after learning about the death of Tolegen.

The heroine of the film Karagoz Alimbayeva comes from the village, where she worked as a zoo technician for five years, to the city to enter the veterinary institute. Having brilliantly passed the profile subjects, Karagoz gets a three on the last physics exam and, having failed to get one point, must return to the village.
