Dans les quartiers populaires de Philadelphie, Rocky Balboa collecte des dettes non payées pour Tony Gazzo, un usurier, et dispute de temps à autre, pour quelques dizaines de dollars, des combats de boxe sous l'appellation de 'l'étalon italien'. Déçu de le voir gâcher son talent, son entraîneur Mickey le laisse tomber, tandis qu'Apollo Creed, champion en titre, cherche un nouveau challenger...

Des séquelles physiques irréversibles amènent Rocky Balboa à prendre sa retraite. Ruiné, il devient l'entraîneur d'un champion en devenir, Tommy Gunn. Mais celui-ci ne va pas rester insensible à l'appât du gain et va quitter Rocky pour rejoindre les rangs d'un coach plus fortuné.

The Mike Douglas Show is an American daytime television talk show hosted by Mike Douglas that originally aired only in the Cleveland area during much of its first two years on the air. It then went into syndication in 1963 and remained on television until 1982. It was distributed by Westinghouse Broadcasting and for much of its run, originated from studios of two of the company's TV stations in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
