Who loves whom in Così fan tutte, Mozart’s and Da Ponte’s cruelly comic reflection on desire, fidelity and betrayal? Or have the confusions to which the main characters subject one another ensured that in spite of the heartfelt love duets and superficially fleetfooted comedy nothing will work any longer and that a sense of emotional erosion has replaced true feelings? Così fan tutte is a timeless work full of questions that affect us all. The Academy Award-winning director Michael Haneke once said that he was merely being precise and did not want to distort reality. In only his second opera production after Don Giovanni in 2006, he presents what ARTE described as a “disillusioned vision of love in an ice-cold, realistic interpretation”.

Young forester Jana Doussière takes up a short-term position at the Grunewald forestry office. Coming from a wild forest in the Vosges, the solitude-loving Jana, who tends to struggle with people, encounters the big city forest and its "Berlin peculiarities". In addition to naked men, demonstrating wild boar fans and committed conservationists, the new forest warden is also confronted with sofas in trees, a mysterious city hunter and forest warden Robin, who hasn't exactly been waiting for her. And even her best friend Aylin, who brought her here, doesn't seem to have told her everything about the new job...

En 1779, Mozart met fin à son catastrophique séjour parisien, regagne Salzbourg et reprend à contrecœur son poste au service de l’archevêque Colloredo. C’est au cours de cette période particulièrement difficile qu’il compose deux pièces majeures de son corpus sacré, La messe du couronnement et, quelques mois plus tard, Les vêpres solennelles d'un confesseur. Ces œuvres ont la particularité d’adopter toutes deux un même effectif de cordes sans alto. Fidèle compagnon de route de la chef d'orchestre Laurence Equilbey, la soprano Sandrine Piau éclaire ces deux moments d’apesanteur par la pureté de son timbre. La cathédrale de Saint-Omer, chef-d'œuvre d'architecture gothique, offre au spectateur un écrin magnifique, prompt au recueillement pour ce programme aux accents d'opéra religieux.

En résidence à la Seine Musicale, vaisseau architectural posé sur l’île Seguin, à Boulogne-Billancourt, Laurence Equilbey et sa formation, l’Insula Orchestra, se plaisent à imaginer des formats novateurs de concerts. En 2018, la cheffe d'orchestre a choisi de présenter "Thamos, roi d’Égypte", une musique de scène de Mozart composée à la demande du baron franc-maçon Tobias Philipp von Gebler pour accompagner son drame héroïque. La pièce, qui préfigure "La flûte enchantée", se dévoile ici sous un jour inédit. Le metteur en scène Yannis Kokkos a ainsi convoqué une jeune génération d’artistes visuels pour élaborer un dispositif mêlant vidéos, dessins et animations en direct, jeux d’ombres et de lumières.
