A short film that tells the story of a man sharing a love letter about longing for someone he has never met. It explores the sense of loneliness, and poses a question: do we need another person in life to feel complete or are we missing a connection with ourselves?

Four of Sweden's most innovative choreographers travel to Ingmar Bergman's home on Fårö to explore and get inspired. The result is a unique contemporary dance film.The renowned Swedish choreographers Alexander Ekman, Pär Isberg, Pontus Lidberg and Joakim Stephenson, with principal dancers Jenny Nilson, Nathalie Nordquist, Oscar Salomonsson and Nadja Sellrup from the Royal Swedish Ballet, interpret Ingmar Bergman through four unique dance performances reflecting on human relations and intense feelings. The dances are linked together with images of the epic natural beauty of Fårö and Bergman's poetic home Hammars, including the voice of the master himself - Ingmar Bergman - revealing his thoughts about movements and music.

Au fur et à mesure des répétitions, son attirance pour Giovanni, le premier rôle masculin, ne cesse de grandir, brouillant la frontière entre son projet artistique et la réalité… Écrit, réalisé, chorégraphié et interprété par Pontus Lidberg, directeur artistique du Danish Dance Theatre, Written on Water entrelace scènes de fiction et envoûtantes séquences dansées. Servie par la très convaincante Aurélie Dupont, ancienne danseuse étoile et actuelle directrice du Ballet national de l’Opéra de Paris, et le magnétique Alexander Jones, qui officie à Zurich, une réflexion sensuelle sur le désir et la création, au travers des corps et au fil de l’eau. Avec, en bonus, de brèves apparitions de Leslie Caron en directrice de théâtre.
