In the mid-1800s, twelve year old Hélène manages to flee from an isolated patriarchal community in Luxembourg. Years later, she returns in disguise, determined to seek revenge on the family that killed her parents.

On January 10th, the investigative editorial team of CORRECTIV published research into a secret meeting of right-wing extremists, which no one was supposed to know about and which led to demonstrations and protests all over Germany. AfD politicians, CDU politicians, members of the WerteUnion, neo-Nazis and financially strong entrepreneurs came together in November 2023 in a hotel near Potsdam near the Villa on Wannsee, where the “final solution to the Jewish question” was once decided. They met to debate to expel millions of people from Germany, including non-German citizens with a migration background, as well as German citizens with a migration background and German citizens without a migration background who do not want to adapt to the ideological worldviews of those present. On January 17, 2024, the research premiered in the Berliner Ensemble as a staged reading with a political satirical character.

En février 1945, Jules rentre chez lui après avoir combattu dans le maquis français. Il avait fui l’enrôlement de force. De retour dans sa ville natale, il espère trouver la paix de l’esprit et mettre la guerre derrière lui. Cependant, il revient dans un pays ravagé par la Bataille des Ardennes et profondément divisé par quatre années d’occupation. Quand sa fiancée est retrouvée assassinée avec une famille de fermiers allemands chez qui elle travaillait, la vie que Jules tentait péniblement de reconstruire s’écroule.

Le corps inanimé de la jeune adolescente est découvert dans la forêt qui encadre le village de Manscheid, dans le nord du pays. Luc Capitani, le policier délégué sur place, est originaire du sud minier et a fort à faire avec la mentalité locale. Secondé par Elsa Ley, une jeune policière locale, il se retrouve rapidement emmêlé dans une intrigue compliquée où tout n'est que faux-semblant et où chaque habitant en sait plus qu'il ne veut bien en dire. Au fil de l’enquête, Luc Capitani devra non seulement traquer un meurtrier, mais aussi casser une mentalité, un système où beaucoup de gens se manipulent au nom du "bien-être commun". En démêlant les fils mensongers des villageois les uns après les autres, il se retrouvera face à sa propre conscience au moment de découvrir l'étouffante vérité...
