Espagne 1944. Ofelia s’installe avec sa mère dans une garnison dirigée par Vidal, son beau‐père, capitaine autoritaire de l’armée franquiste. À proximité de la grande maison familiale, la jeune fille découvre un étrange labyrinthe gardé par une créature nommée Pan. Le monstre lui révèle qu’elle n’est autre que la princesse d’un royaume enchanté. Afin de découvrir la vérité, Ofelia devra se soumettre à trois épreuves que rien ne l’a préparée à affronter…

En Espagne, durant la guerre civile, Carlos, un garçon de douze ans dont le père est décédé, débarque à Santa Lucia, un établissement catholique pour orphelins. Il est remis au bons soins de Carmen, la directrice, et du professeur Casares. Mais il doit faire face à l'hostilité de ses camarades et de Jacinto, l'homme à tout faire. Par ailleurs, ce lieu hostile dissimule derrière ses murs deux secrets : l'or de la cause républicaine, et le fantôme d'un enfant qui hante le sous-sol. Carlos aperçoit dès la première nuit cet esprit errant et s'efforce de communiquer avec lui par tous les moyens. Le petit orphelin découvre très vite que ce spectre n'est autre que celui de Santi, un ancien pensionnaire de Santa Lucia disparu dans de mystérieuses circonstances.

The story is about a couple that sets out for a dinner party on the millennium eve. The woman is pregnant, the guy has no money and no car and has borrowed one from a friend of his. The car of course is not exactly top class and crashes down after few miles. And that's where the film really starts. The couple start fighting and trying to find a way to the parents' house before midnight, hitchhiking on the way and getting into several cars and get themselves involved in the funniest situations.

When 10-year-old Nemo's mother suddenly dies, the boy is forced to go live with his maternal uncle's family. They are cordial and treat him well, but his 12-year-old cousin, Iván, begins to tease and tell him stories about the Bogeyman and how he'll come and get him if he doesn't behave. At first young Nemo doesn't believe the stories, insisting that Iván is just making things up...

Javi and his friend Carlos visit an old house on the outskirts of a small Spanish village. According to his brother Juan this is a haunted house and one can hear the voices of the dead. Later he is intrigued with a room which is always closed (the room where his father was found dead). He is so interested in these mysteries that he starts to investigate all the secrets of these dead people and their stories.
