A romantic drama that tells the story of dreams and ambitions for a generation of young Iranians who often find those things difficult to come by. In this unique take on a familiar theme, a young couple assume the role of a much wealthier couple in order to spend their days with Tehran’s nouveau riche. The adventure begins with playful games that take the audience on a comic ride but it ends in horror when the young couple find themselves locked up in an apartment, facing a case of mistaken identities. At once twisted, unpredictable, funny and thrilling, Tavakkoli’s film is a masterful, beautifully acted, cleverly composed exercise in building suspense.

Maral (played by Hengameh Hamidzadeh) intends to go abroad with her boyfriend Mehrdad (played by Milad Kiomram). The Maral family has a traditional mindset, and his brother Morteza (played by Karim Amini), who is violent, is also in conflict with him. This causes Maral to run away from home. At the same time, Morteza, with the help of Farhad family's son-in-law (played by Reza Attaran), who is the husband of his cousin, is trying to find Maral. They first go to his old classmate and then to Mehrdad and find out that Mehrdad has been unaware of Maral for the past four years.

A drunken, boorish general tyrannises his wife and his maid. When the wife discovers that her husband and the maid are having an affair, she turns the maid out of the house, little realising that the young woman is pregnant with the general's child. Years later, the general is dead, and a younger generation has risen with a new outlook on life and new problems to face... This flamboyantly stylised melodrama, loosely adapted from Ibsen, is the newest work by one of the legendary figures of Iran's New Wave.
