URSS, fin novembre 1941. Inspiré du récit du journaliste Vasiliy Koroteev paru dans le journal de l'Armée rouge, Krasnaya Zvezda, peu de temps après la bataille, c'est l'histoire des "28 de Panfilov", un groupe de 28 soldats de la 316ème division d'infanterie de l'Armée rouge, sous le commandement du général Ivan Panfilov, qui a arrêté l'avancée sur Moscou d'une colonne de 54 chars nazis de la 11ème division Panzer pendant plusieurs jours. Bien qu'armés de fusils d'infanterie standards Mosin-Nagant et de mitrailleuses DP et PM-M1910 inutiles contre les chars, et de grenades antichars RPG-40 et de fusils antichars PTRD-41 inadaptées, ils se battirent sans relâche et vaillamment, avec un courage hors du commun et un dévouement sans faille, pour protéger Moscou et leur mère patrie.

1938, Soviet Russia. There were two of them, both strong and courageous. But one fateful day, Igor Petrov, the commander of a Red Army unit, is compelled to exchange ID papers with a satecracker known as Ash.
