In an emotional tribute, Montreal graffiti artist Fonki returns to Cambodia to paint a giant mural of his relatives killed in the genocide. During his time there, he connects with a group of Cambodian youth who have also returned hoping to breathe new life into their destroyed culture.

Inspired by the rapid evolution of Sihanoukville, a fishing village turned into the next Macao of South East Asia as a result of Chinese investment, Aniccam (Khmer for ‘impermanence’) straddles the tension between cultural alienation and belonging, and the muddiness of individual betterment in a climate of economic colonialism.
