Alors qu'elle gare sa berline, Miriam Cohen, une jeune femme obèse, est percutée par un beau jeune homme, Kai Neuman, au volant d'une décapotable. Furieux, celui-ci commence par insulter Miriam avant de se raviser. Tous deux échangent leurs coordonnées. Kai décide de confier la réparation de sa voiture à un ami garagiste et se présente, dès le lendemain, à la résidence des Cohen, un bouquet de fleurs à la main.
