The PFL 7 mixed martial arts event for the 2019 season of the Professional Fighters League was held on October 11, 2019, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kayla Harrison was initially scheduled to face Genah Fabian at this event. However, Fabian missed weight and was replaced by Bobbi-Jo Dalziel.

After a stirring 2021 campaign in which he won and defended the UFC lightweight title by finishing Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira begins his second year as champion on May 7 as he defends his crown against former interim titlist Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 274. Living up to his nickname "The Highlight" every time he steps into the Octagon, Gaethje will attempt to follow up his Fight of the Year win over Michael Chandler by taking Oliveira's title in a bout that is expected to set the bar high as 2022's best. Plus, UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas gets a change to avenge a bitter defeat when she faces top contender Carla Esparza in a long-awaited rematch of the top 115-pound fighters in the the world.

UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took place on January 22, 2022 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. A UFC Heavyweight Championship title unification bout between current champion Francis Ngannou and interim champion Ciryl Gane served as the event headliner.

UFC Fight Night 223: Dern vs. Hill was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took take place on May 20, 2023, at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada.

UFC on ESPN 34: Luque vs. Muhammad 2 was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took place on April 16, 2022, at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States. A welterweight rematch between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad headlined the event. The pair previously met at UFC 205, where Luque won the bout via first-round knockout.

UFC Fight Night 228: Fiziev vs. Gamrot was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took place on September 23, 2023, at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States. A lightweight bout between Rafael Fiziev and former KSW Featherweight and Lightweight Champion Mateusz Gamrot headlined the event.

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Procházka was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took place on June 12, 2022, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. A UFC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between current champion Glover Teixeira and former Rizin Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka was originally expected to take place at UFC 274, but it was eventually moved to headline this event due to undisclosed reasons. A UFC Women's Flyweight Championship bout between current champion Valentina Shevchenko and Taila Santos took place at the event.

Bellator 181: Girtz vs. Campos 3 took place on July 14, 2017, at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main event featured Brandon Girtz against Derek Campos in a rubber match. Campos won the pair's initial meeting in June 2013 at Bellator 96 by unanimous decision. Girtz avenged the loss in November 2015 at Bellator 146, where he won by knockout in the first round.

A heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight Championship challenger Derrick Lewis and Sergey Spivak was expected to headline the event. However, while the event was in progress, Lewis was forced to withdraw due to non-COVID, non-weight cutting illness and the bout was cancelled. As a result, Kennedy Nzechukwu and Ion Cuțelaba instead headlined the event. Bellator 167 was headlined by a bantamweight fight pitting Darrion Caldwell against Joe Taimanglo. Caldwell and Taimanglo previously met in a catchweight bout at Bellator 159. Caldwell did well in the first two rounds, but was caught with a fight-ending guillotine choke nine seconds into the third round. The defeat was the first loss of Caldwell’s career and Caldwell was a 14-1 favorite entering the bout, making the upset the fourth biggest in MMA history. Taimanglo was riding a four-fight winning streak into the rematch. Caldwell came into the first bout with Taimanglo off a career-best win over Joe Warren at Bellator 151. A featherweight bout between Pat Curran and John Teixeira was also scheduled for this card. However, the fight was cancelled in early November due to an injury sustained by Curran. Teixeira instead faced Justin Lawrence.
