Centaure, 55 ans habite dans les bidonvilles de Bichkek, capitale du Kirghizistan. Il vit simplement, avec sa femme et son fils. Autrefois voleur de chevaux, il mène dorénavant une vie paisible. Mais un jour, un certain Satyre frappe à sa porte et lui demande de voler le cheval d’un homme très célèbre. Dans la Mosquée, les gens parlent et pensent que Centaure, qui n’a jamais été très religieux, se prépare pour un pèlerinage, le Hajj.

Two fishermen, grandfather Ignatyich and grandson Lyokha, are fishing near the Big Chkalov Canal. A girl approaches the bridge behind them and suddenly she falls off the bridge. The grandfather and grandson manage to save her. Upon arrival at Ignatyich's house, she wakes up and cannot remember her name or where she comes from. Thanks to grandma Frosya, frame by frame, she recalls her difficult past.
