"It must schwing!" was the motto of Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, two German Jewish immigrants who in 1939 set up Blue Note Records, the jazz label that was home to such greats as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins. Blue Note, the most successful movie ever made about jazz, is a testimony to the passion and vision of these two men and certainly swings like the propulsive sounds that made their label so famous.

En 2004, le pianiste Niels Lan Doky décide de ressusciter ce qui, plus qu'une salle de concert, fut un véritable moteur d'intégration pour des artistes américains tout en constituant une partie du patrimoine musical danois. Et le temps de deux concerts exceptionnels dans ce lieu, il réunit autour de lui les artistes Didier Lockwood, Johnny Griffin, Lisa Nilsson, Toots Thielemans, Mads Vinding et Albert "Tootie" Heath pour des moments de grâce.

Bastien Balthasar Bux a douze ans. Orphelin de mère, élevé par un père absent, il s'évade de son quotidien grâce à sa passion pour la lecture. Après le départ de Rube, George, Mason, Daisy et Roxy font la connaissance de Cameron Kane, leur nouveau chef. Celui-ci va avoir fort à faire avec ses protégés. George, qui a pour mission de récupérer l'âme d'un ami de sa sœur, va se rapprocher de sa famille. Mason et Daisy, quant à eux, vont être confrontés à leurs problèmes avec l'alcool...

Francis Ouimet est issu d'un milieu très modeste mais s'illustre dans un sport généralement réservé aux classes sociales aisées : le golf. Véritable prodige, tout le monde l'encourage à poursuivre dans cette discipline mais son père s'y oppose... Toutefois, il continue et persévère jusqu'à atteindre un niveau exceptionnel. Ainsi, il s'inscrit à 20 ans au tournoi de l'US Open.

Bastien, un jeune garçon de 10 ans, se cache dans une librairie et il entame la lecture d'un livre intitulé L'Histoire sans fin. Au fil de sa lecture, il finit par plonger littéralement dans l'univers du livre, le Pays Fantastique, où il vit différentes aventures.

Après six années de coma suite à un accident, Johnny Smith découvre à son réveil que sa mère est décédée, que sa fiancée s'est mariée, qu'il a un fils, et surtout, qu'il est capable de visualiser le futur par un simple contact physique avec une personne ou un objet !
