Americans want to take over the Irish creamery Angela Mooney's husband built up. Everybody in town is delighted, with the exception of Mrs Mooney, who has her own reasons for being opposed to the sale of the business.

When Alice Redmond is required to go deep undercover in an effort to trap number one suspect Darren Metlick, she gets very close to the edge. Her superiors push her past the point of no return because they need additional evidence to make their case air tight. Alice is having an affair with a fellow officer Don Holroyd and his sexual appetite closely resembles that of the hacker, so she has some experience in the dark side.

The film concerns an old Irish immigrant living in London who is looking back over his life. He recalls his early life in the west of Ireland, his first love, emigrating to England, searching for his brother Joe, who disappeared after he emigrated several years previously. His marriage and wife's later depth is also remembered.
