En septembre 1939, l'armée allemande prend le contrôle de la Pologne. Un groupe de professeurs, à la tête duquel se trouve Mordechai Anielewicz, s'inquiète du traitement qu'Hitler semble réserver aux Juifs. Après avoir été témoin d'actes de violence, Mordechai tente de faciliter la fuite de ses étudiants en Palestine, mais il est arrêté et emprisonné. Il s'évade et retourne à Varsovie. Mais la ville est devenue méconnaissable. Un immense mur de pierre a été dressé, derrière lequel se trouve ce que l'on appelle le Ghetto de Varsovie. Révolté, Mordechai tente de s'opposer à l'oppression nazie et monte avec ses compatriotes un mouvement de résistance, le J.F.O (Jewish Fighting Organization). Il mobilise son meilleur ami Yitzhak Zuckerman et sa femme Zivia. Parmi ses recrues se trouve également Tosia Altman, une jeune fille capable de passer pour une aryenne aux yeux des Allemands.

The insurmountable border foritfications will remain vulnerable . . .

Siska est une série télévisée allemande composée de 91 épisodes d'une durée de 55 minutes chacun, créée par Herbert Reinecker et Helmut Ringelmann et diffusée du 30 octobre 1998 au 4 juillet 2008 sur le réseau ZDF. Au Québec, la série a été diffusée à partir de février 2000 à Séries+, en France, à partir du 1er juillet 2001 sur France 3 et rediffusée sur 13ème rue et RTL9, en Suisse sur TSR1 et en Belgique sur La Une

Cette série met en scène les forces de l'ordre et le cabinet du Procureur. La plupart de l'action se situe à Berlin. Les deux coéquipiers, Bonhoff et Kehler, parcourent la ville pour rechercher les coupables de délits ou de crimes, et ce, sous la houppe des procureurs Lotze et Glaser, remplacés par les procureurs Kampenn et Sturm par la suite. La série est une adaptation de la série New York, police judiciaire, mais aucunement décidée et produite par Dick Wolf, contrairement aux autres adaptations des séries du concept New York District (Paris, enquêtes criminelles, Londres, police judiciaire).
