Fujieda Baian is admired during the day as a skilled acupuncturist. However, at night, he is a highly skilled assassin, taking on contracts to quietly eliminate those whose existence is deemed toxic to society. Baian's latest target, assigned by his boss Otowa, is Shirakoya Kikuemon, the head of a powerful organization in Osaka. In the past, Baian had been indebted to Shirakoya, but due to a conflict involving the swordsman Kosugi Jūgorō, their relationship has turned adversarial. After his lover is abducted, Shirakoya storms into Edo. With his life now targeted, Baian resolves to confront Shirakoya in a desperate final showdown.

This is based on a true story, recited, directed by the real Sakurai Shouichi, who has now retired from the underworld mahjong. An elite bureaucrat clashes with Sakurai, a lone wolf, wishing to hire him as rep player. However no matter the money offered, Sakurai will not respond to any offer...

Japan in the 1940s. A high school boy went into a magic encounter with Ozuka Hana, a geisha (pub-girl) when he traveled through Amagi Pass. A mysterious murder took place afterwards, an Ozuka was held responsible. 40 years later, the boy, who became a printing shop owner, was visited by a retired policeman who came from Amagi Pass. The truth then started to reveal itself.

Midori (Mari Atsumi) est un mannequin en vogue grâce aux efforts de son petit ami salarié d’une entreprise de textiles, Hiroshi (Yusuke Kawazu). Ce dernier prêt à tout pour réussir, propose à Midori de coucher avec un acheteur étranger pour avoir de l’avancement. Midori doit aussi gérer son père alcoolique qui a le chic pour se mettre dans des situations impossibles.

Après quelques jours passés en prison, Ichi (Shintarô Katsu) poursuit son errance à travers le Japon. Il séduira une yakuza, fera la connaissance d’un rônin peintre et poète à ses heures (Ken Ogata) et, bien sûr, ne manquera pas d’aller faire un tour dans les maisons de jeu histoire de se remplir les poches. Le masseur finira enfin par trouver un peu de repos auprès des enfants d’un orphelinat. Mais comme toujours, il sera amené à faire couler le sang pour défendre sa propre vie ou protéger les innocents.

While horror and supernatural themes are predominant, a variety of genres like comedy and drama are also produced. Most episodes, however, have a bad ending.
