Events take us to the beginning of World War II in the small town of Stavrovo. Its unique location, a passing railway and a fork in several roads, proximity to the front line, made it attractive to German troops. They placed a rather large garrison in the city. In the city and in its outskirts, an underground was organized. Most of which were recent graduates of the school. This is a story about two fates, two former schoolchildren - Alexei and Dmitry. The first went underground and tried in every possible way to prevent the invaders, giving his life for his homeland. The second sided with the enemy and became an executioner for his own compatriots.

A film is set in the Chekhov’s country estate near Moscow in the mid 80's of the 19th century. It was one summer day... Self-sacrificing 26-year-old Anton takes all possible efforts to support his large and unfortunate family, his broke father, sickly mother, sister and brothers. He spends his day writing short comic stories for cheap magazines. The future great writer Anton Chekhov is just about to recognize his own gift.

C’est la fin des années Eltsine. La vie n’est pas drôle à Ivanovo : les garçons partent faire la guerre en Tchétchénie, tous ressentent les effets de la crise économique et morale. Et tous cherchent un sens à leur vie. Dans une secte, l’alcool, la fête, le départ pour l’étranger. Mais ce jour-là, rien ne se passe comme prévu…
