Afin de rejoindre le clan Enya, chargé de venger leur maître poussé au suicide, le rônin Gengobei doit reconstituer la somme de 100 ryo, dérobée en sa présence chez son maître, et ainsi retrouver son honneur en réintégrant le clan. Celui-ci vivant incognito dans une maison de Geisha afin de se protéger de ses ennemis, tombe rapidement amoureux de la belle Koman, une prétendue courtisane, qui lui jure fidélité éternelle. Celle-ci organise, sous l’impulsion de son mari Sangoro, une mise en scène afin de dérober l’argent que Gengobei a reçu de son fidèle serviteur. Se rendant compte de la supercherie, Gengobei devient animé d’une folie vengeresse envers le couple, déclenchant un drame aux proportions abyssales.

During the early 20th century, Ryuji from Asakusa, a wandering yakuza, joins the Narumi Family in Yokohama. However, when he confronts Shiotaro, the head of the rival family, Ryuji takes a liking to him. He ends up leaving his current family, and becomes close to Shiotaro like brothers swearing to become a full-fledged yakuza.
