On the Lazio coast of Coccia di Morto, Kimutai, a young African boy, enjoys the sun on the shore. The illusion of spending a day like everyone else is suddenly interrupted by a trivial misunderstanding; a chain of misunderstandings with the bathers will force Kimutai to find a new center of gravity in the precarious balance between reality and illusion.

Maicol is an 8-year-old boy who lives in one of the houses of the popular lots of the Trullo in Rome with his father Valerio and his mother Giusy. As a gift for the school promotion Maicol receives the money to buy the jersey of his favorite team.

Manuel vient d'avoir 18 ans. Il est temps pour lui de quitter le foyer pour jeunes dans lequel il a vécu ces dernières années, depuis l'incarcération de sa mère. Mais la liberté retrouvée a un goût amer. Errant dans les rues de son quartier en banlieue de Rome, Manuel tente de devenir un adulte responsable. Pour que sa mère obtienne l'assignation à résidence, il doit prouver aux autorités qu'il peut veiller sur elle. Manuel pourra-t-il aider sa mère à retrouver sa liberté sans perdre la sienne ?

Rome 2008, avec pour trame de fond la lutte acharnée que se livrent l'Église, le gouvernement, la mafia, les gangs locaux et les promoteurs immobiliers dans leur quête de pouvoir. Chaque jour la mince frontière qui sépare la légalité de l'illégalité se brouille un peu plus. Au cœur de l'intrigue, trois jeunes hommes issus de milieux différents et que tout oppose doivent forger des alliances pour parvenir à leurs fins.
