Three highschool girls try to get money from their parents to help pay the hospital bills for a friend. They come up with a scheme where one of them pretends to be kidnapped in order to receive the ransom money. However, the plan is revealed and two of the girls are taken into police custody. When released, one of the girls jumps from the roof of the school out of shame and to call attention to the plight of their friend.

Set in the turbulent times of South Korea between the ’80s and ’90s, it depicts the fierce life, revenge, and conflict of young people who have to pursue power and wealth by any means in an era filled with wrong social values. Lee Doo Hak is a young man who was born in a small city in Jeolla Province and grew up innocent with a clever brain. However, he fatefully becomes caught in a whirlpool of events and ends up in the middle of conflict. After going through a real estate fraud group, he becomes a “political gangster” and lives his life to avenge his father’s unjust death.

Min Woo's first love was sadly unrealized. On one rainy summer day, he had fallen in love with Eun Hye, but unfortunately, she dies in a car accident. He runs into Hye Won in the mountains he used to frequent with his former flame, and sees that Hye Won and Eun Hye share many similar qualities. Hye Won had suffered a heart condition as a child and later underwent a heart transplant. She had received the heart from Min Woo's first love. When Hye Won first sets her eyes on Min Woo, her heart responded wildly. Jung Jae is Hye Won's childhood love who is gentle and handsome. But because Hye Won's heart continues to respond to Min Woo, she must choose which man to love.

When her husband goes to jail for bankruptcy, a woman takes her two daughters to live with her father, who severed ties with her years ago.
