Kôichi Satô

Ankoku Butoh is a style of avant-garde dance that established itself in the counter culture experimental arts scene of post WWII Japan. The dance form is thought to have been founded by Tatsumi Hijikata, who both created and performed in butoh pieces from the late 1950’s - through the early 1970’s. In butoh, the style of movement is extremely stylized and deliberate, vacillating between slow and sharp, expressing feelings of dread, sexualization, violence, calmness, birth and “creatureness” among other things. This performance of Summer Storm was originally recorded in 1973 at Westside Auditorium, Kyoto University, Japan, and was Hijikata’s last public performance before his death in 1986 with Butoh of Dark Spirit School. A librarian is subject to a scientific experiment which goes wrong and transforms him into 'The Human Vapour'. He uses his new ability to rob banks to fund the career of his girlfriend, a beautiful dancer. The Human Vapour is ruthless in his quest for money and kills anyone who stands in his way, especially police. He soon becomes Tokyo's most wanted criminal. Can he be stopped before he kills again?

Near the end of the nineteenth century, as the balance of power shifts from Shogunate towards the Emperor, Japan restlessly awaits the dawning of a new age. But not all are content...The Shinsengumi, a small army of samurai, farmers and peasants, band together to do battle against the tide of history. Their leader, Isami Kondo is a man who rises from farmer to fighter to head the fierce Shinsengumi brigade. Using a stern hand and a heart of gold, he rallies his men in defense of the tottering Shogunate. But bloodshed and treachery lurk around every corner.

L'histoire raconte l'histoire d'un groupe de samouraïs qui se sont retrouvés sans chef (devenus ronin) après que leur daimyo (seigneur féodal) ait été forcé de commettre un seppuku (suicide rituel) pour avoir agressé un fonctionnaire de la cour nommé Kira Yoshinaka, dont le titre était Kōzuke no suke. Les ronin ont vengé l'honneur de leur maître après avoir patiemment attendu et planifié pendant plus d'un an pour tuer Kira. À leur tour, les ronin ont eux-mêmes été contraints de commettre un seppuku pour avoir commis le crime de meurtre.

Deux reporters, Ichiro Sakai et Junko Nakanishi, sont envoyés sur un site industriel dévasté par un violent cyclone. Ils y découvrent une étrange substance. Parallèlement, les pêcheurs de la baie de Yokohama ramènent un œuf géant et mystérieux qui est aussitôt acheté par Toharata, un homme d'affaires véreux. Malgré les recommandations du professeur Miura, inquiets de ce qui se cache dans l'œuf, Toharata décide d'en faire une attraction particulièrement lucrative pour les touristes et les curieux. À leur grande stupéfaction, de petites fées apparaissent pour reprendre l'œuf aux humains. Les « Aelinas », comme elles se nomment, sont décidés à récupérer ce qui appartient à leur déesse, la phalène géante Mothra.

During the 16th Century Japan was involved in the Sengoku Period, an era of Civil Wars and the powerful Warlords who fought them. One of the earliest and strongest of these men was the Great Lord TAKEDA Shingen. A tremendous military genius, his battles are the stuff of legend.

As supernatural events and monster attacks rock Japan, the military and government look to be overwhelmed. Three intrepid young investigators—two pilots and a reporter—take it upon themselves to study these unexplained phenomena in order to inform and protect the public. With allies and science aiding them on their journey, the trio must separate myth from history as they explore the greater mysteries of these occurrences: are they unrelated, or is this barrage somehow a portent of even worse things to come?
