Harbin, au nord-est de la Chine : Xian, 15 ans, doit, le temps d’une mission de sa mère médecin en Afrique, retourner vivre chez son père. Elle l’estime aussi peu qu’elle l’a vu. Lui tient un petit studio de photo dont l’ambiance kitsch et glamour exaspère la solitaire Xian, au visage sévère.
