L’investigation sur l’homicide d’une prostituée va amener le détective Manfred (Leon Lai) à collaborer avec l’inspecteur Kee (Richie Chen) du Bureau des Narcotiques. Lorsque des échantillons d’ADN d’un des hommes de Manfred sont retrouvés sur la scène du crime, l’impliquant donc comme principal suspect, Manfred va devoir regarder au-delà des évidences pour essayer de découvrir la vérité. Mais entre une taupe dans la Police, une sombre affaire de trafic de drogue, et ses propres problèmes personnels, cela ne s’avèrera pas de tout repos…

Chow Yun-fat qui joue Ah-Long, père de famille issu d'un milieu défavorisé, essaye tant bien que mal d'élever son fils, Porky (Wong Kwan Yuen). Les liens étroits entre le père et le fils sont mis à l'épreuve lors d'une rencontre fortuite d'Ah-Long avec son ex-petite amie (Sylvia Chang) qui va changer le cours de leur vie.

The story of Farewell to My Concubine is itself very dramatic. Lillian Lee is rumoured to have written the original screenplay in the late 1970s, which was made into a two-part television series on RTHK by Alex Law under the name King Chau and Lady Yu. Lee then adapted the story into a novel in 1985, which later inspired a feature film, scripted again by Lee and directed by Fifth Generation mainstay Chen Kaige, going on to become an international sensation that won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globe Awards among other accolades. What's more, the Peking opera of the same title featured prominently in the novel, the TV programme and the film was itself adapted from a Kun opera, which was in turn based on the historical chronicle Basic Annals of Xiang Yu, from Records of the Grand Historian.

Hap Hak Hang is a Hong Kong television series adapted from Louis Cha's novel Ode to Gallantry. The series was first broadcast on TVB in Hong Kong in 1989.

A House Is Not a Home is a TVB television series, premiered on 1 August 1977. It is a very successful classic series boasting the likes of stars Liza Wang, Simon Yam, Ha Yu and also veteran actors like Bak Man-biu, Tang Pik-wan and Lee Heung-kam. The show became a 1970s drama classic, well-known also for its theme song, "A House Is Not a Home"; 家變, which was composed and arranged by Joseph Koo, with lyrics by the late Wong Jim and sung by Roman Tam.
