Balz Näf, professeur d’allemand à Baden et président de la fondation Gottfried Keller se retrouve dans une situation financière délicate. Afin de sauver la mise, il a l’idée de faire des paris sportifs avec des exhibitionnistes. Conjointement avec son coiffeur il initie un nouveau modèle commercial. Le nouveau sport en vogue devient une sensation, mais cela n’améliore guère sa situation. Au contraire!

During a trip to the U.S., ambitious Rana becomes inspired by his uncle's success. After a marriage and bitter divorce from the uncle's daughter, Rana becomes out-of-status and disillusioned.
