The Mongolian army, under Khan Batu’s command, was known for its invisibility, destroying anyone who dared to challenge them. Yet, even within their central territories, some areas refused to bow to the Genghisids. Kozelsk was one of them. The Mongolian armies bypassed the high walls of this small town, considering that "the skin of the wolf was not worth the risk of encountering its teeth".However, one of the Khan’s commanders harbored a grudge against the town's citizens. Now, the people of Kozelsk must face a battle against the strongest army in the world, with no hope of victory. This is a story about people facing their death. Some try to escape, others are willing to do anything to survive, but most are prepared to protect their city from the relentless storms of the Mongolian hordes.

The film is about a Dagestani entrepreneur who feeds guests a miracle and is not afraid to be known as an eccentric. Murad Kazhlaev managed to marry two cultures: Dagestan and Moscow. At first, he and his partners developed a network of "Dagestan shops" in the capital. Then Murad returned to his homeland to open a cafe with a Moscow atmosphere in Makhachkala. Young serf Ivan Starshov is head over heels in love with Maria, the daughter of his master. He doesn't want to accept that the young princess is no match for him. "You gave me wishes, but you do not allow me to satisfy them!" rages Ivan against God. He asks a priest for help, since God created all people equal. But the priest repeats the proverb. Accept your fate destiny as it is. In despair, Starshov repudiates from faith. Ivan is stubborn; he leaves the village to take possession of his fate. This is how the protagonist gets on the winding road to the true understanding of Love.

The action begins in 1912. The heroes of the painting - neighbors, villagers, Cossacks from the Tatarsky farm of the village of Vyoshenskaya - have lived on this land for centuries, they are connected by kinship, friendship, love, common labor and military service. But this durable and self-sufficient world with its unique way of life, habits and a special system of views and values is collapsing under the onslaught of bloody turmoil and revolution. Don is divided by hatred. The seemingly immutable age-old foundations of Don life - land, farm, family, military duty - are dissolving in the crucible of fratricidal war. The Melekhov, Korshunov, and Astakhov families are involved in the cycle of military and political events.
