Milos travaille dans une petite gare tchèque pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale. Tourmenté par sa timidité, il n'arrive pas à séduire la jolie contrôleuse qui pourtant s'offre à lui. Ludvik et Anna rentrent, lui sur les nerfs, elle passablement éméchée, d’un gala donné par les faucons praguois. Ludvik y a appris l’éviction de son supérieur hiérarchique et craint, dossiers compromettants à l’appui, de devenir un dommage collatéral de cette mise au pilori. Zofie (Jaroslava Schallerová) is serious to the point of reticence and she is delighted with her friendship with Dominika. For the self-assured and superficial Dominika (Irena Svárová) the whole thing is just a momentary whim. When she leaves the work camp before everybody else, she doesn't even say goodbye to Zofie. The two girls meet again after the holidays as first-year students at medical school, and become close again during the nursing techniques class.

Comedy with fairy-tale touches, about Kate, who wants to marry, and Mr. Devil, who is not interested in the heart or soul of this passionate and aging lady, but is interested in her good cooking – for Mr. Devil is a glutton.

The life of the famous French writer Alexander Dumas the Elder. Screenwriter Jaroslav Dietl did not hide his admiration for this literary giant, and in addition to the screenplay he also wrote a three-part TV play about Dumas (starring Vladimír Menšík). In Kachyn's film, Dumas played the father and son of the Štěpánková brothers, and it was a very difficult and difficult task for these young actors.
