Alexey Sokolov commande une équipe de pompiers rattachés au service de protection aérienne des forêts. C'est un homme dur qui a l'habitude de tout contrôler autour de lui, y compris sa fille Katya. Katya sort avec Roman, un pompier débutant de Moscou. L’appréciant peu, Alexey l’emmène néanmoins avec son équipe éteindre un terrible incendie de forêt. In the last winter of WWII a group of captive German soldiers is brought to a remote Russian village, where widows, a child and a crippled are the only ones left. This is a military drama about those, who can love and forgive.

The heroine, a lonely woman, falls in love with a young businessman very similar to a childhood friend. Everything separates them, the age difference, the social position and this creates a multitude of obstacles, sad or ridiculous, to the realization of their aspirations. But how to imagine that this man, who was trying at the beginning to get rid of an intruder, comes to a declaration of love accompanied by flowers.

In a small town there are no mysteries, lively events or attractions, apart from the smooth tracks of the railway, which hide real life and fairytale emotions beyond the horizon. The train to the capital, which passes through the town every day, seems to Katya and Oxana to be part of a different world, full of wonder. One day an unexpected message from the Moscow express alters the routine life of the two friends.
