A middle-aged man dissatisfied with the present state of things finds himself in a parallel universe where all technology is stuck in the 1990s.

During a sunny Sicilian summer Tanino has a sweet and tender story with Sally, a young American tourist. But when summer is over, Sally flies back to the States forgetting Tanino and her camera. He instead cannot forget the girl and he decides to go to the States with the excuse of bringing back her the camera and to see the dreamland of any Sicilian. Tanino will discover that dreams don't always match with reality...

Scianel is a young girl from the ZEN (a public housing project neighborhood) in the city of Palermo an area on the outskirts of Palermo, who is not able to give a name or a form to her diversity. She knows she's "weird" but hasn't understood to what extent yet. When, during a workshop, she discovers her talent for painting, her world changes: what she draws comes to life, it develops a soul. Even if for her this gift becomes a surprise and then a comfort, for her grandfather, instead, it becomes a possibility to make money. Gathering the most bizarre demands from the people of the neighborhood he makes his granddaughter draw what these people think they desire, not realising what they really need.

Valentino and Salvo, unemployed and in search of fortune and recommendation, leave Palermo for Valentino’s home town, Monteforte, where they will try to survive the Italian crisis by opening some sort of hospice.
