Ce concert a été filmé en Septembre 2010 à la Brixton Academy de Londres au point culminant de leur tournée pour l’album “Battle for the Sun” sorti l’année précédente. Lors de cette tournée qui avait remporté un succès sans pareil, le groupe s’était produit devant plus de 2,5 millions de spectateurs dans le monde entier. De nombreux effets visuels transcendent cette captation live. Grâce à une réalisation soignée et des effets digitaux choisis, ce film étonnant capture l’essence même d’un concert de Placebo.

Live at Angkor Wat is a semi-acoustic live album from alternative rock band Placebo, released on 12 December 2011. It was recorded at Angkor Wat in Cambodia on 7 December 2008, at the start of the Battle for the Sun tour. Placebo was the first rock band to play at the temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As the band Placebo approach their 20th Anniversary they were given a unique opportunity to play ten cities throughout Russia. In a time when Russia was at the forefront of the world’s current affairs, little was actually reported outside Russia about the internal culture of the country. Fronted by Placebo’s Stefan Olsdal, the film explores the alternative cultures that are present within Russia’s major cities. As the tour travelled through the country the band went out and met various artists, architects, animators and musicians, finding out about the alternative creative culture and celebrating all they have to offer. From Krasnoyarsk in Siberia to St. Petersburg on the Baltic Sea, Placebo: Alt.Russia takes you on the band’s journey through Russia, meeting great characters on the way, investigating the alternative culture in Russia, and taking in the raw emotions of Placebo’s powerful concerts.

Depuis la sortie de son premier album en 1996, Placebo ne cesse d'intriguer, de déranger, d'émouvoir... Ces éternels adolescents, fils spirituels de Robert Smith et de David Bowie, ont marqué les années 90 de leur mélancolie subversive. Malgré des chansons ayant pour thématiques le sexe, la drogue, le trouble et la dépression, Brian Molko et ses acolytes ont en effet réussi à se faire une place de choix auprès du grand public, permettant à plusieurs générations de trouver un écho à leurs propres angoisses. Après un nouveau tournant pris suite au départ de Steve Hewitt et symbolisé par Battle for the Sun, Placebo continue d'aller de l'avant avec Loud like Love. Un opus où la voix et l'aura de Brian Molko semblent omniprésentes, donnant du corps à des chansons liées non plus seulement au mal-être et aux amours déçues mais aussi aux problèmes de société. A travers l'enquête d'Arthur, un journaliste anglais expatrié à New York, sur une star du Glam Rock, Brian Slade, évocation des années soixante-dix en Angleterre. Arthur explore l'ascension et la chute de Brian Slade qui fut son idole quand il était adolescent à Manchester, son mariage avec Mandy et sa liaison avec Curt Wild, une star de la scène rock américaine. Cette enquête sera pour Arthur l'occasion de se pencher sur son passé, et de comprendre à quel point Brian Slade et Curt Wild ont bouleversé sa vie.

En décembre 2008, Placebo a entrepris sa huitième tournée mondiale en 15 ans, devant plus de 2,5 millions de fans, dans 143 spectacles et 44 pays. La tournée de promotion de l'album " Battle for the Sun " a commencé à Angkor Watt, au Cambodge, le 7 décembre 2008 et s'est terminée à Londres, au Royaume-Uni, le 28 septembre 2010. Le documentaire Coming Up For Air, réalisé par Charlie Targette-Adams, est un film candide et intrusif qui suit le groupe dans les différents continents qu'il a visités, traverse les paysages, les cultures et présente un montage d'images compilées à partir des différents spectacles.

Set on the Isle of Wight, fragments of the director's own teenage video diaries collide with the fictional story of 15-year-old Tommy in this short film about a boy's search for connection in the advent of the internet age. Infatuated with his best friend's boyfriend and unable to truly reveal himself to anyone, Tommy feels an overwhelming sense of isolation on the small chalk island he calls home. Desperate to be seen, he logs on to family computer, clicks connect and opens MSN.
