Nyima Sungsung

Nima Yangzhen is a postman at the post office of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. She is a ordinary mother of a baby, but with professional skills and enthusiastic work attitude, Nima was recommended to participate in the selection of exemplary people in the autonomous prefecture. After winning she receives a job transfer order. She needs to leave her family temporarily to go to the remote Yunling Township to take over the job of the old post office director.

Apprenant qu’elle souffre d’une maladie grave, Drolma décide d’effectuer un éprouvant pèlerinage jusqu’à Lhassa, qui durera une année. Elle part sans révéler sa maladie à Dorje son époux. Elle dissimule également un secret concernant son ancien compagnon décédé. Elle part donc au plus vite et décide de partir seule. Elle commence donc ce long voyage accompagnée au tout début par deux jeunes voisines. Très vite, elle est rejointe par Dorje accompagné de Norbu, le fils de Drolma issu de son précédent mariage. Norbu est un enfant difficile qui a des relations compliquées avec sa mère et son beau-père. Ils vont poursuivre le voyage à ses côtés. Après la disparition de Drolma qui n’atteindra jamais Lhassa, ils continueront tous les deux le pèlerinage. Celui-ci les rapprochera et deviendra alors un parcours initiatique permettant ainsi de réaliser la promesse faite par Dorma au père défunt de Norbu.
