Capitaine à la section de recherches d'Orléans, Alban Dutertre revient dans sa ville natale, où il n'a pas que des bons souvenirs, pour mener l'enquête. Il fait équipe avec l'Adjudant Bérénice Amarillo, de quinze ans sa cadette, une gendarme brillante mais timorée, qui a du mal à se défaire du poids d'une arrestation qui a mal tourné. Bientôt, un autre meurtre a lieu, toujours inspiré de Léonard De Vinci. S'ils veulent arrêter le meurtrier, Alban et Bérénice vont devoir résoudre une énigme digne de celles que l'artiste se plaisait à construire ...

Dina is a young Russian filmmaker working on a film about Stalinist repressions and the massive intergenerational trauma they caused that continues to resonate in modern-day Russia. Together with her friend Johan, a German sound designer whose grandfather went missing in the USSR during the Second World War, she embarks on a journey to the former Soviet labour camps. Almost deserted, the abandoned lands of Gulag still bear traces of those who perished there. Although this trip becomes somewhat therapeutic for the two of them, it also puts their relationship to the test.

Autumn 1929. Lina, from the noble Golitsyn family, arrives on a date with her husband Georgy Osorgin, who is serving a prison sentence in the Solovetsky special purpose camp. Lina does not know that after she leaves the island, her husband will be shot. Osorgin received a terrible sentence after he, a deeply religious man, secretly brought holy gifts to the dying Archimandrite so that he could take communion before his death. The camp authorities took the Russian officer's word of honor from Osorgin not to tell his wife anything about his predetermined fate. Only on this condition did they agree to temporarily release him from the punishment cell for his last meeting with Lina. The spouses spend the precious three days allotted to them and feel happy in the most inappropriate circumstances. Osorgin says goodbye to Lina on the pier. When the ship becomes a dot on the horizon, the guards escort George back to the punishment cell, where he carefully dresses for his final journey.

In 1957 French student Pierre Durand comes to Moscow to do an internship at Moscow State University. Here he meets ballerina Kira Galkina and photographer Valera Uspenskiy. With them he discovers the cultural side of Moscow — not just the traditional one, but the underground one as well. During his year in Russia’s capital Pierre lives an entirely different life than what he’s used to. But the internship and the experience of the Soviet people’s way of life are not the only things Pierre is after. He’s searching for his father, White officer Tatishchev, who was arrested in the 1930s.

A young and ambitious journalist has to lose herself to find love in the most unlikely of places. After traveling to a desert island in search of a mysterious hermit, all Nina can think of is her scoop and discovering what makes a man leave the rest of the world behind. But as a storm strikes, she finds herself immersed in a world of deceit, human vice and a fight for survival. The series, like a stage play, is divided into three acts, with a three-year period between each of them and tells a story that will shatter viewers' perceptions of the actors' lifestyle and offer a glimpse into their reality with all their fears, desires, and goals. It will become clear how those whom everyone is used to consider carefree live and work when the stage lights go off. And how actors, more so than any other professionals, can hit rock bottom despite being on their peak the day before.
