Robert Kolmaar est un chirurgien en cardiologie réputé et compétent. Suite à un drame qui provoque la mort d'un enfant, il décide de changer de vie. Il sera désormais médecin légiste, et donc en quelque sorte le dernier témoin des victimes des criminels.
