Pologne, années 1970. Zdzislaw Beksinski et sa femme Zofia vivent avec mère et belle-mère dans un appartement préfabriqué de Varsovie. Artiste peintre, Beksinski ne s’aventure hors de leur domicile que pour aller voir son fils Tomasz, un animateur radio, qui vit dans l’immeuble d’en face. II craint en effet que ce dernier, dépressif, ne mette fin à ses jours.

Two friends spend a lot of time together, walking and talking. One of them - Magda - meets aliens, can stop or speed up time, is extremely irritating and annoys outsiders. In her free time, she looks for a job at MPK, looks after her grandmother, helps her mother and experiences adventures with strange individuals.

Young couple living in the old house suddenly discover an elevator which takes them directly to year 1939.
