Melodifestivalen has grown into a center around which a large portion of the Swedish music industry revolves and is financed by. Is it really reasonable that so much power is wielded by a single production?

The first season of Sweden's Idol premiered in August 2004 and continued until its grand finale on 26 November. It is a spin off of Britain's Pop Idol.
