The captain of a Marseille freighter suspects his wife of cheating on him with his childhood friend. The ulcerated wife decides to take a trip with her sister and this friend, and registers herself under a false name on her husband's boat. A disaster caused by the fog reveals to the household their love for each other.

Décidée à se venger de son mari infidèle, Monique achète tous les ballons d’un marchand ambulant et y accroche sa carte de visite avec le message « je serai seule après minuit ». Les ballons s’envolent et, au gré du vent, sont attrapés par plusieurs hommes dont son voisin Michel, amoureux d’elle depuis longtemps. Parmi une poignée de prétendants, Michel va alors tenter sa chance afin de gagner le coeur de celle qu’il aime.
