Un trio de criminels s'emmêle peu à peu dans le vol et le crime. Serge est arrêté, sa maîtresse, Hélène, et son complice, Michel, tous deux devenus amants, tentent de l'exonérer et d'utiliser d'abord de fausses empreintes digitales, puis après la condamnation de Serge, des gants couverts des mêmes empreintes digitales du prisonnier.

L'Ange rouge is a cabaret run by a former mobster with his friend, a singer and dancer he brought back from Argentina. A fleeing gangster takes refuge in the cabaret. The singer and the gangster have an affair.

A couple of dancers performs in a night club. The man is jealous of Gina, his partner,and keeps making scenes to her, going as far as bullying her on the stage during their act. A man gets killed. The dancer is suspected for being jealous of all the other men. Another potential culprit could the father of Gina since he overprotected his daughter. The real culprit will be unmasked after the police detective finds the murder has something to with the Occupation period.

Marinette, the wife of Mario, a sympathetic hobo, is disgusted with the farm and runs off to Paris without husband or child. The tenacious husband sets off in pursuit, accompanied by the baby and a cow that's a bit cumbersome. The unfaithful woman wanted to become a star. Mario and his crew go from music hall to nightclub until finally, a classified ad brings back a repentant Marinette, just in time to prevent Mario from running off with a prostitute, herself eager for a change of scene.

Soldat de l'armée italienne durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Mario mène désormais une vie tranquille aux côtés de sa femme Germaine. Cette dernière, trahie par son précédent compagnon, est très sensible au mensonge. Quand elle apprend que Mario est un déserteur qui vit sous une fausse identité, elle le quitte sans délai. Meurtri, Mario envisage de se rendre aux autorités pour reconquérir Germaine.
