Bilio Tsoucala

A biographical film about the great Greek politician Eleftherios Venizelos for the period between 1910-1927. The film highlights his vision of a Greater Greece and refers to important events in Greek history such as the formation of a government by Venizelos after the Goudi movement, his dispute with the King over Greece's stance in the First World War, the temporary his withdrawal from politics after his defeat in the 1920 elections and the Asia Minor disaster. A biography of the former Greek prime minister Eleftherios Venizelos and the recreation of his acts and the political and social climate in Greece from 1910 to 1927.

Il faut le sauver ! (entretien avec Werner Schroeter) est la captation sonore, réalisée le 8 mars 1980, d’un entretien que Gérard Courant a eu avec Werner Schroeter à propos de Palermo oder Wolfsburg, film qui avait reçu quelques jours plus tôt l’Ours d’or du Festival de Berlin. Dans un deuxième temps, Gérard Courant a mis cette bande sonore en image en utilisant des photos, affiches, programmes, extraits des films de Werner Schroeter ainsi que des collages créés pour la circonstance.

14 September 1943: The legendary submarine Y1 “Katsonis” was sunk north of the island of Skiathos by the German submarine chaser UJ 2101. Through the book of XO Elias Tsoukalas who escaped capture and had to swim for nine hours to reach shore, secret documents, and crew members’ diaries, the documentary unfolds the human stories woven around the submarine. Seventy-five years later, with the support of the Hellenic Navy, we search for the submarine sunk at 253 metres depth and film the wreck for the very first time.
